The Executive Summary of the September 19-24, 1968 Makarska Conference on Mass Field Trials on the Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease

Jerry Stamler’s summary of the 1968 conference called for government and private initiative in primary and secondary prevention trials of single and multifactor risk reduction by hygienic and drug strategies.

Conference participants are listed in the letter heading. The full working group report was centrally involved in the NHLI deliberations that led to the new U.S. CVD prevention policy announced by Theodore Cooper in 1972.
