Corday Symposium, Henry Blackburn Review of Controversies and Attitudes on CVD Prevention
Corday Symposium, Henry Blackburn Review
Year: 2017
Elliot Corday was a clinical investigator, practitioner, and leader in American Cardiology who was central to the 1960-80s development of acute coronary care and myocardial infarct research units. In his zeal for this major improvement of hospital medicine he was impatient with any seeming diversion of effort and funding to what he considered unproven strategies of prevention, including changing “risk factors” and health behaviors. Preventionists constantly tried to reconcile academic and pragmatic views and policy about the newly promising and safe hygienic approaches to risk factor reduction, as explored in this presentation by Henry Blackburn.
