Minnesota Council Against Health Fraud: Founding board member; currently member.

Minnesota Food Association: Board of Directors 1984-1995; Policy Work Group, 1992-1994; Nominating Committee for board slates 1993-1995; invited to accept the St. Paul Food and Nutrition Commission's Award to MFA on behalf of the Association at the Politics of Hunger Conference, October 1995. Currently: Member.

Minnesota Public Health Nutrition Practice Group: Recorder since 89-97; member since 1988.

Minneapolis Star and Tribune: Weekly recipe analysis and diabetes exchange calculations since April 1988.

Minnesota Nutrition Council: Liaison to the Society for Nutrition Education and Board Member, 1993-1996. Past President. Chair-elect, Education Committee, i.e., program planning, 1996-1997, 1999 (coordinated September 22 meeting on food safety, committee to develop annual conference March 3, 2000), Education Committee, 2000-2001. Annual Conference Planning Committee and Program Planning Group, bimonthly publicity for conference in 2000, assist in conducting 2001 conference on aging (9/29/01). Currently: Member.

Society for Nutrition Education, Council of Affiliates. Summer, 1994-Summer 1995. elected Chair of the Council of Affiliates, a national association of nutrition councils affiliated with the Society for Nutrition Education.

Food First Coalition: Appointed to Steering Committee, Fall 1994 to 1998.

Minnesota Board on Aging: Nutrition Support Services Grant Review, September 19, 1996 and again May 1997, 1998, and 2003.

Osteoporosis Prevention in Minnesota Conference: Participant in Planning Committee (Minnesota Department of Health, Diary Council of the Upper Midwest, and Minnesota Board on Aging as sponsors), September 10, 1998.

Extended Harvest, a project by Minnesota Extension Service, Second Harvest Food Bank and other community partners to link nutrition education and jobs training, 1996-1997; Advisory Committee, Mis-En-Place Project, 1998-1999.

Author of geriatric nutrition section for new Manual of Clinical Nutrition, Summer 1999.

Area Agency on Aging: Review of Nutrition Provider Applications for Program Administration in the Metro area, 2000.

American Dietetic Association: Gerontologic Practice Group member; also Complementary Approaches Group, Public Health Nutrition Practice Group; Unintentional Weight Loss Working Group (2002-2004) - to develop evidence-based nutrition protocols/practice guidelines.

Minnesota Dietetic Association (MDA): Public Health Nutrition Practice Group, Board Member as Chair of the Nominating Committee 1996-1997 (an elected position), Workshops director 2003-2004, 2004-2005 (appointed). Currently: Board of Directors.
