What's happening now at EpiCH...

 

Congratulations to the winners of the Walter H. Judd International Graduate and Professional Fellowship!
Twenty-one graduate and professional degree students were awarded fellowships in 2008 through the Walter H. Judd International Graduate and Professional Fellowships. Ten of the recipients are SPH students. The fellowships provide assistance to students enrolled in master’s and professional degree programs and increase opportunities for students to study, undertake internships, and conduct research projects abroad.

Congratulations to the following SPH/EpiCH Judd recipients:
- Matilda Essandoh-Bondziewill study in Switzerland
- Elizabeth Hutchinson will study in Tanzania
- Lindsey Johansen will study in the U.S. Commonwealth of
   the Northern Mariana Islands
- Betsy Mathews will study in India
- Heather Oleson will study in India
- Melissa Riedesel will study in Kenya
- Sarah Sevcik will study in Tanzania
- Alicen Spaulding will study in Argentina
- Elizabeth Tesdell will study in the Palestinian Authority

Join us to honor and recognize our Civil Service and Bargaining Unit staff. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
  Research Symposium: Big Brother, Great Data
   Finland as a Goldmine for Population Research

When: Thursday May 15, 1:00-4:30pm
Where: Minnesota Population Center, 50 Willey Hall
This symposium will showcase Finnish data sources and population research projects in order to promote data opportunities available in Finland and build connections between Finnish and local UMN research communities.

Health Commissioner Sanne Magnan, Minnesota Department of Health, will deliver the 2008 SPH Commencement Address.

  10th Annual MCH Summer Institute on Health Disparities
Promoting Health Equity: Family-centered Program Development and Advocacy

When: Thursday, June 12, 2008
Where: Center for Continuing Education and Conference
             Center, St. Paul Campus
The Institute will provide an opportunity to discuss how the universal experience of family - and its diverse definitions - can be integrated into family-centered programs and policies that enhance family resilience and improve individual and population health. We will also affirm that family-centered care is fundamental to health equity: individuals who are at social disadvantage can thrive when programs and policies strengthen and support their core support systems.
