Free Online Training

Culture & Health Literacy

Inequalities in the generation, manipulation, and distribution of health information--and the capacity to act on health information--are associated with health disparities.  Dr. Rhonda Jones-Webb and colleagues developed an online training module on health literacy for public health professionals, students, health journalists and others. Its purpose is to define health literacy, identify health information gaps among social groups, and share strategies to improve health literacy.  The module is free and can offer 1.0 continuing education contact hours.  The module was developed with resources from two HRSA-funded centers at the University of Minnesota :  the Center for Leadership Education in Maternal and Child Public Health and the Midwest Center for Life-Long Learning in Public Health.
