What is the LET Program?
The Leadership, Education and Training (LET) Program in
Maternal and Child Nutrition provides graduate
education and training and continuing education programs for Registered Dietitians,
nutritionists and other health professionals who are interested
in developing a specialization in maternal and child nutrition.
The LET program is part of the graduate program in public
health nutrition, located in the Division of
Epidemiology within the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota.
Areas of faculty expertise and specialization include: maternal
nutrition, child and adolescent nutrition, prevention of
eating disorders, childhood obesity, school and community
nutrition intervention programs, dietary assessment methods,
nutritional epidemiology, and factors affecting child and
adolescent growth and development. This program is supported
through a grant from the US Department of Health and Human
Services, Division of Health Resources and Services Administration,
Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

Nutrition
Curricula : Learning Modules
The LET Program believes that all health care professionals
who work with women, infants, children and adolescents should
have advanced training in the area of maternal and child
nutrition.
The LET Program has contracted with leaders in the field
of public health, maternal and child health and maternal
and pediatric nutrition to develop web based curricula on
maternal and child nutrition related topics.

National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course
The National Maternal Nutrition Intensive
Course is a continuing education program that focuses on improving
the health outcomes of preconceptional, pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding
women and their infants. The course provides an overview of factors
that affect the nutritional status of women of childbearing age, a variety
of cutting edge nutrition issues related to pregnancy and lactation,
and
characteristics of effective nutrition counseling and services. Distance
education opportunites are available.
