Training activities within the LET Program in MCH Nutrition combine didactic and experiential learning opportunities with one-on-one mentoring, coaching and advising to provide a comprehensive leadership development experience. Supervised field experiences and practicums are an essential component of our training program and allow for the integration of theory and practice in an agency setting.
The Twin Cities is fortunate to have a wide array of exemplary public health, clinical care and community health agencies that serve as field placement and practicum sites for students, provide opportunities for research projects, and are easily accessible to the UMN. Students can choose from a variety of placements within the Twin Cities as well as throughout the US (for summer practicum experiences). Some of our long-standing partnerships for supervised practice include:
Minnesota Department of Health
Minnesota Department of Education
Bloomington Public Health Department
Native American Community Clinic
USDA Region V Child Nutrition Programs
Parents in Community Action – Head Start
St Paul Ramsey County Public Health
