Blood pressure checkEpidemiology Clinical Research
    Center

The Epidemiology Clinical Research Center (ECRC) is located on Washington Avenue South between 11th and 12th Avenues, within a few blocks of the Division of Epidemiology’s home base in the West Bank Office Building (WBOB).

The Epidemiology Clinical Research Center provides valuable research results to the University of Minnesota and the world.

The ECRC opened its doors to participants in 2000. It is now home to many studies with nearly 1,000 visits a month, conducting groundbreaking research in disease areas including osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, estrogen, exercise, cardiovascular genetics and cardiovascular disease prevention.

In addition to the many participant examination and interview rooms, ECRC space is utilized to perform a number of measurements which include electrocardiogram’s, blood pressure, cognitive testing, carotid ultrasounds, echocardiograms, bone densitometry, uterine monitoring procedures, treadmill testing, and diet and exercise intervention evaluation.

The ECRC has a single laboratory where blood samples are collected, processed and packaged for future testing or sent out to more specialized laboratories.

Some studies in the ECRC have been following participants for as long as 20 years. The friendly staff, their dedication to research and good clinical practices, and the exceptional treatment of research volunteers are the keys to the success of the ECRC and the studies housed here.
