Research: Current Projects

Drug & Violence Programs

PROJECT NORTHLAND CHICAGO –Program for 6th–8th graders to reduce the onset and prevalence of alcohol use in 64 schools in urban Chicago using school, peer, parent, and community programs.

Nutrition & Physical Activity Programs

CAL-GIRLS –Program with the Girl Scouts to increase calcium consumption and weight-bearing physical activity among young adolescents.

TAAG: Trial of Activity for Adolescent Girls –Program for 7th and 8th grade girls to increase physical activity during and after school.

NEW MOVES –Physical activity school-based program tailored specifically for high school females that provides new role models and enhances body image.

Tobacco Programs

PROJECT CRASH –Out of school program to discourage high school students from smoking that uses websites and post cards.

PROJECT MYTRI: Mobilizing Youth for Tobacco-Related Initiatives in India (MYTRI means "Friendship" in Hindi, India's national language) –Program for 6th–9th graders in India to prevent the onset of tobacco-use, using a combination of school, peer, and parent programs.
