Shekelle, Rick, MA, PhD
Shekelle was long invovled with the Chicago Western Electric Study, a long-term cohort study of CHD, and also the Multiple Risk Factor Intervention Trial (MRFIT).
He contributed many findings supporting the diet-heart hypothesis by demonstrating an association between diet components and 25-year risk of CHD mortality, including an independent association with dietary cholesterol intake. His work in MRFIT challenged the validity of the Type A behavior interview as a reliable predictor of CHD risk.
