Audio-Visual Collections These audio-visual collections feature a selection of materials from the History of Cardiovascular Epidemiology Archive at the University of Minnesota: The process of collecting and identifying multimedia resources is an ongoing one, and we welcome corrections or additions. To submit information, video or audio clips, documents or images for possible inclusion on this site, or to request permission to publish any of the materials included here, please contact Henry Blackburn at black002@umn.edu. Additional Audio-Visual Resources The Seven Countries Study was the first systematic exploration of the relationship of diet, blood cholesterol, and heart attack among and within cultures differing in traditional eating patterns. It is still on-going, with 50 year follow-up of experience in 14 area populations of seven countries having varied saturated fat intake (at the outset between 3 and 22 per cent daily calories). The following websites give an overview of the origins, hypotheses, early survey work, findings, and implications of this pioneer study in CVD epidemiology. Please click here for On the Trail of Heart Attacks in Seven Countries by Henry Blackburn. Please click here for Health Revolutionary: The Life and Work of Ancel Keys. This documentary on the life and works of Ancel Keys was produced in a series for the American Association of Schools of Public Health in 2000. In 2004, the 1st Keys Symposium on Nutrition and Health was held at the University of Minnesota. Please click here for the symposium program. |
