Strategies for Understanding & Measuring Health Disparities


July 28-29, 2001, Minneapolis, Minnesota

This two-day institute featured local and national experts, who provided a comprehensive overview of the strategies to enlist in eliminating health disparities. Free videotapes can be requested here. The tape includes the presentation by our keynote speakers Ms. Vivienne Jenkins Nelson and Dr. Linda Jouridine. Power Point presentations are below.

• Presentation by Kathleen Thiede Call, PhD Dr. Call shared information on needs assessment and the results of the recent examination of the uninsured in Minnesota.
• Presentation by Jonathon Watson, MS Mr. Watson discussed needs assessment as related to the community clinics across the state of Minnesota.
• Presentation by Laurie L. Meschke and Tim Zimmerman. The basics of using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were reviewed in application to health disparities.
